Established for over 30 years, we draw together the extensive experience and diverse backgrounds of our staff to provide practical and innovative solutions; creating places that offer genuine value and meaning, creating landscapes where people want to be.

As we have grown, we’ve also expanded our services to meet our clients’ needs; from the planning stages to landscape design, construction and on-going landscape management.

We work across a range of industries and have extensive experience of Business/Science Parks and Commercial Landscapes.

Who We Are

Carolyn Place

Director
Carolyn qualified first as an engineer and decided after several years that landscape architecture was her future.

Her dual qualification gives her a valuable edge in her approach to design and implementing jobs on the ground.

Carolyn has over 20 years in the construction and landscape industries and brings a fresh and direct approach to her projects.

She joined Anthony in the 90’s and became a Partner in 2005 (now Director). She can turn her hand to anything but has specialised in landscape management and has also become an authority on children’s play.

Carolyn enjoys gardening, skiing and organising the village cricket club.

Director

Veronica brings to the practice a wide range of experience designing and delivering high profile projects throughout the UK, from public realm and podium gardens to green roofs and private gardens. In 2013 she designed a Chelsea garden for the Garden Club of America, which was awarded Silver-gilt.

She particularly enjoys integrating ecological functioning into the designed environment.

Veronica is the mother to two young boys, and enjoys swimming, gardening and playing her viola in the Oxford Symphony Orchestra.

Sam has worked for ASA for many years in an admin support role. A mum of two, she has studied garden design and loves plants, baking and walking her dog Jessie.
Katie Dixon

Associate Landscape Architect

As an Associate Landscape Architect Katie has played a key role in the design of many projects seen through to delivery and completion, including site supervision. She has extensive experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams including architects, engineers and contractors.

She heads up our GIS capability using ArcMap to manage large landscape maintenance contracts. Her strengths are in concept design using 3d modelling and hand drawn sketches.

Senior Landscape Architect

Kim joins ASA Landscape Architects as a Graduate Landscape Architect, having previously lived in South Africa with project experience in Africa, South Asia and the UAE.

She enjoys commercial and residential projects, design illustrations and has a keen interest in green belt regeneration and preservation.

When not cycling, Kim enjoys yoga, tennis and trekking.

Senior Landscape Architect

With a Masters in Architecture and in Landscape Architecture; Maria brings to the practice a passion for the sympathetic integration of built form into the landscape and the importance of public spaces. Having worked in practice for several years, Maria has experience of working in a multi-disciplined teams, master-planning at a variety of scales, covering projects from city regeneration in China, to the design of parks, squares and pavilions.

When she is not travelling and discovering new places, she enjoys a good historical novel.

Alison Quinn

ASA is Alison’s second Landscape role since gaining her first-class MLA from the University of Gloucestershire.

Alongside design work, her experience extends to landscape and visual impact assessments for both UK and international projects, and contributions to a Saudi Arabian urban design guide.

As a mother of two, Alison is particularly passionate about creating playful public spaces, with her research on the play value of school grounds during COVID-19 published in Building and Environment (April 2022). Alison’s work is further informed by her earlier 16-year career in community development and stakeholder engagement, with extensive insights into how communities use and experience space and neighbourhoods.

Outside of work, Alison enjoys singing, yoga, comedy nights, and immersing herself in a good book.

Emma Higgins

Landscape Architect
Emma joins ASA whilst currently completing the dissertation for her MA in Landscape Architecture. She previously graduated with a first-class honours BA in Landscape Architecture from the University of Gloucestershire after enjoying a long career in gardening. She brings with her a passion for plants, nature and ecological restoration. With a background in art, she enjoys the mix of creativity Landscape Architecture offers.

When not gardening, Emma enjoys walks with her dog, cycling and watching live music.
