Project: Silverstone Strategic Perimeter Landscaping
ASA Landscape Architects were appointed by MEPC to deliver the strategic perimeter landscaping along the newly created bunds at Silverstone Park.
In order to achieve this, the existing spoil heap (which was in situ when MEPC acquired the site) was redistributed and formed into three bunds which were replanted with native trees, hedgerows, scrub, tussock grassland and species rich grass in order to maximise the screening potential.
The planting scheme was developed to positively contribute towards enhancing local biodiversity and habitat provision for both Great Crested Newts, bats, nesting birds and reptiles with over 400 native trees , 500 linear meters of hedgerow and 6,000 shrubs implemented to date, with a further 12,500 m2 of tussock grassland and species rich grass to be implemented imminently.
The trees include a mix of eight different native species, such as silver birch, common hazel and bird cherry, which contribute to local biodiversity by providing a varied source of food and habitats to a wide range of native wildlife.
The species rich grassland will flourish and flower from mid summer to support pollinators– while the Tussock grassland mix will form habitats for insects, small mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles, providing nesting sites during spring, food during summer and autumn, and shelter during winter
This latest project adds to the landscape improvements we have been working on with MEPC at Silverstone Park to ensure the Park’s 131 acres include appealing and considered green spaces that both give back to nature and can be enjoyed by occupiers and visitors.
