We believe play landscapes should not be single-purpose, offering attractive spaces for all generations to enjoy; from morning jogs, to places for a picnic or kick-around. We all benefit from getting out into nature.

Successful play spaces are dynamic and layered, therefore in our designs we consider:

☑️ Spatial layer: We move beyond simple zoning to create connected journeys that respond to the site’s topography and wider setting, encouraging exploration.

☑️ Social layer: Designed for children, but also for the wider community to enjoy.

☑️ Time layer: Play spaces should be designed to reflect their different uses throughout the day and across the seasons, to provide year-round interest.

☑️ Ecological Layer: Designed to integrate nature, not around it. Play areas can integrate planting, landform and drainage features that maximise benefits for the wider ecosystem.

When these layers work together, play spaces become more than destinations; they become part of daily life, evolving with the community and enriching the wider environment.

Play is about more than just a catalogue of equipment.

At ASA Landscape Architects, we believe a landscape should be a unique framework for curiosity, not an "off-the-shelf" product. Whether it's a sculptured landform, a cluster of trees, or a quiet shaded bench, the environment itself can be the teacher.

We don't just build play areas; we design essential community infrastructure that balances:
☑️Physical and mental wellbeing
☑️Ecological enhancements
☑️Educational opportunities

Whilst responding to the needs and feedback of the local community and client.
